The complete guide
01 / CHOOSE

Start with a playable video.

Select a file from your device. Compatibility depends on the video’s codec and your browser, not just its filename. Nothing is uploaded.

02 / EXPLORE

A moment or a collection.

Use By count for an overview, By interval for regularly spaced images, or Manual to save the current picture. Narrow the time range to focus your search.

03 / KEEP

Export your favorites.

Choose PNG for lossless image encoding or JPG for smaller downloads. Select your frames, then save a ZIP. JPEG quality changes apply to newly captured frames.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Before you press play.

Are my videos uploaded anywhere?

No. Your selected video is opened through a temporary local URL. Decoding and image export happen in your browser; there is no video upload endpoint.

Which video formats can I use?

Try a file your browser can play, such as an MP4 containing H.264 or a WebM containing VP8/VP9. Support varies by browser, device and codec. AVI, MOV, HEVC and MKV are not guaranteed.

Is this frame-accurate extraction?

This tool uses time-based browser seeking, not a professional frame index. Variable-frame-rate media and browser decoding can affect which frame appears. Times are provided for reference, not forensic precision.

Why is there a limit of 200 frames?

Decoded images can use a lot of memory, especially on phones. Each batch is capped at 200 frames and results are capped at 128 MB of encoded images. Export and clear a collection before starting another large batch. Output is capped at 8 megapixels per image.

Can I extract audio or create contact sheets?

Yes. The workspace now has separate tools for contact sheets, storyboards, audio extraction, subtitle editing and resolution checks. Each opens its own page and keeps processing local.
