THREE QUIET STEPS

From clip to waveform.

01 / OPEN

Choose a video or audio file.

Your browser decodes the audio track into memory. A file with no audio track, or a codec the browser cannot read, is reported instead of guessed at.

02 / LISTEN

Check the waveform.

Preview the decoded sound, click the waveform to jump and confirm you have the right take before writing a file.

03 / KEEP

Download a WAV.

Export 16-bit PCM, keeping the decoded sample rate. Choose mono to halve the file size when a single channel is enough.

WHAT A WAV KEEPS

The decoded sound, unchanged.

01

No second compression.

WAV stores the samples the browser decoded. It does not add another lossy pass, and it cannot restore detail the original video already lost.

02

Channels in your hands.

Keep the source layout or mix down to mono. The estimated file size updates before you write anything to disk.

03

A real preview.

The waveform is drawn from the decoded samples, not a decorative placeholder. Click it to hear the exact moment you are looking at.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Before you export the sound.

Can I export MP3 instead of WAV?

Not in this release. The extractor writes 16-bit PCM WAV, which needs no extra encoder. MP3 compression is a separate tool in the roadmap and is not presented as available here.

Does the WAV sound better than the video?

No. It contains the audio your browser decoded from the source. WAV avoids a second lossy compression pass, but it cannot recover detail that was already discarded when the video was encoded.

Why is there a ten-minute limit?

Decoded audio lives in memory, and ten minutes of stereo audio is already a large allocation. The limit keeps a phone browser from being asked to hold a file it may not be able to finish writing. Split longer recordings in a video editor first.

What if the video has no audio track?

The browser’s decoder rejects it and the tool says the file could not be decoded as audio. It does not create a silent WAV or pretend an empty track succeeded.

Is my video or audio uploaded?

No. Decoding and WAV writing happen on your device. There is no media upload endpoint or account, and leaving the page releases the decoded buffer.
